Palisades Media Exec Named As Prez, Nielsen Entertainment

Nielsen Co. has named Palisades Media executive Bruce Dennler to president of Nielsen Entertainment, as part of consolidation of all Nielsen entertainment-measuring services.

Dennler had been president/chief operating officer of Palisades Media Group, the Santa Monica, Calif.-based media buying company since 2005. Before this, Dennler was the executive vice president and director of planning for Carat North America.

Dennler will be responsible for divisions including the measurement of the theatrical box office revenue, home entertainment, music, interactive, book and live event sectors. He will be based in Los Angeles, reporting to Dave Thomas, Nielsen's President of Media Client Services.

Bruce's appointment brings together Nielsen's Entertainment's West Coast operations under one roof--National Research Group (NRG), EDI and EDI International, the theatrical film research units; Television and On Demand Services; SoundScan, the music retailing service; Broadcast Data Systems; Music Control; VideoScan; Market Navigator; BookScan; BookData; and Interactive Entertainment.

Nielsen division heads Howard Ballon, president of Nielsen Film and Home Entertainment and Rob Sisco, president of Nielsen Music and COO of Nielsen Entertainment East Coast operations, will now report to Dennler.
