Yada, Yada, Yada: AOL Acquires Yedda, Will Ad Semantical Search Features

AOL this morning announced its second acquisition in a week and its fifth so far this year, acquiring Yedda Inc., a semantic social search service. Yedda that will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary. Founded in 2006, the Tel Aviv-based company utilizes a "question-and-answer" format based on a patent-pending technology that automatically matches questions to other related questions and topics, while selecting the best available users to answer the question. The semantic matching technology routes questions to relevant communities of Internet users who can "syndicate" their expertise and spark a community-wide dialogue of people invited to discuss and learn from each other's experiences. AOL said it would incorporate the questions and answers feature into select programming areas on AOL.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
