TomTom Teams With Google Maps For Better Navigation

  • December 7, 2007
TomTom has partnered with Google to enhance its line of portable navigation devices--a deal that gives users the ability to send business info directly from the Google Maps to their TomTom.

Users will now find the 'Send to GPS' option embedded in the Google Maps search listings, and clicking on the button transfers the address to their TomTom account. The info is uploaded to the device once it's connected to the Web via TomTom's HOME software. Drivers can then navigate to their new destination, or save it as a favorite in their TomTom for later use.

The deal is not exclusive, as Concord, Mass.-based TomTom will "continue to explore partnerships with third parties," according to a company statement.
