In an effort to goose holiday sales, Macy's will keep seven of its New York-area stores open 'round the clock, beginning Friday, reports
Women's Wear Daily.
An eighth store, at Queens
Center Mall, will open 24 hours beginning Thursday. The stores will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
WWD reports that a Macy's spokesperson denies the move stems from desperation. "This
is not a last-minute decision," she says. "Something of this magnitude you can't pull together at the last minute."
