The Donald is Trump-eting his success.
After shifting the show around on its schedule, NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice" grabbed a decent viewership on Thursday night. The show earned a 4.5
rating/12 share among 18-49 viewers--6% higher that the program's debut last season.
Admittedly, NBC did this against some repeats: CBS' "Crime Scene Investigation," ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and
CW's "Supernatural." NBC also beat Fox in the Orange Bowl contest between Virginia Tech and Kansas, which pulled in a 4.0/10.
NBC made gains with "ER" as well at 10 p.m.--notching a 3.6/10, which
won the time period, also against repeats: ABC's "Desperate Housewives" and CBS' "Without A Trace." A fresh "Deal or No Deal" also ran against reruns to a 3.7/10.
Even with all of this momentum,
NBC could only tie Fox on the evening for best network overall in terms of 18-49 viewers. Both NBC and Fox earned a 4.0/10.
Well down in second place was CBS at a 2.6/7 for the night. ABC was
fourth at a 1.8/5. CW was fifth at a 0.8/2.
NBC originally had other plans for "Apprentice." The network initially announced plans for Jan. 3, but shifted to the 10th--given the football game, a
possibly original of "Grey's Anatomy" and the potential damage of viewers turning to the newsworthy Iowa caucus.
When ABC moved the original "Grey's" episode to the 10th, the show returned to
the 3rd.
