Pharmaceutical company Schering-Plough is promoting its Claritin allergy medication with sponsorship of Nascar racer Carl Edwards for the 2008 Sprint Cup racing season. Edwards' Ford Fusion, which he
drives for Roush Fenway Racing, will have Claritin branding.
Edwards will serve as spokesperson for the Claritin "Clear to Drive" campaign, spotlighting the drug's lack of soporific side
effects. Edwards, who has allergies, will also appear in Claritin advertising. Edwards will also be central to a Nascar promotional effort this year.
The racer will do PSA-type radio
announcements exhorting drivers not to be sleepy when they drive. --Nina M. Lentini
