So, as a jaded and curmudgeonly ol' digital coot (is that P.C.?), I would have to say that it takes a lot to amuse me. A lot. Having said that, when something does strike me as funny,
I love to torture everyone around me with it. So here it goes.
Meet
carded.tv. This is a brand-new site that is using the power of video to,
well, spread its own version of joy. As the company describes itself, this is a place where "you can free yourself from the tyranny of lame e-cards."
OK, I LOVE
it. The site is young, brash and full of digital machismo -- but if you look at it through my jaded glasses, what you should see is huge potential for an all-new way to use a format that is
tired and old to spread a funny and captivating viral campaign. Take this platform, this company, this format and apply it to traditional campaigns. For example, Dirt Devil vid-cards
congratulating you on getting all those stains out of the carpet after the party you had while your parents went away for the weekend. Or how about the vid-card from Dr.Phil congratulating you for
getting rid of that dead-beat mate of yours? Or Jenny Craig sending you a congratulatory vid-card for losing that last 10 pounds? See where I am going with this?
The fun,
the outrageous, the boisterous -- that's what the digital world is great for. So my friends, with that, I encourage you to go out there and spread the joy. And for those folks who are
looking for a card to send that special someone for their birthday, why don't you hit
this?
