ESPN Lines Up Top Doc Talent

ESPN has signed on filmmakers, including Spike Lee, Richard Linklater and Davis Guggenheim, for a new series of documentaries. The Disney-owned network is moving into the space with a program called "30/30" that will pair each filmmaker with a sports topic close to his or her heart. Each will create an hour-long documentary to air, likely on Tuesdays, beginning in fall 2009.

"The intention is to get the best storytellers in the entertainment business, find personal attachments to a particular personality or a particular event in sports history and find a specific way to tell the story," says producer Michael Tollin.
