Microsoft Acquires Mobile Software Maker Danger Inc.

  • April 16, 2008
Microsoft Corp. said Tuesday it had completed its acquisition of mobile software maker Danger Inc. The deal, announced in February, was aimed at boosting Microsoft's expansion into providing mobile consumer services.

Danger developed T-Mobile's SideKick device, which lets users instant message, talk, send e-mails and access the Web, with a swivel screen that flips open 180 degrees to reveal a full keyboard. The SideKick was seen as having particular appeal among younger consumers.

Danger will become part of the Microsoft's Premium Mobile Experiences team, which focuses on consumer-facing mobile projects. Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
