EBay reported first-quarter revenue of $2.19 billion on Wednesday--a 24% increase from $1.77 billion during the same period a year earlier. Net income at the online auctioneer rose 22% to $562
million, from $460 million last year.
Ebay's Skype voice service saw revenue of $126 million for the quarter--up 61% year-over-year, while its revenue was up 9.5% on a sequential
basis. The Skype service now has 309 million total registered users, according to eBay, having registered an additional 33 million users in this latest quarter.
At PayPal, meanwhile, revenue were
up a healthy 32% year-over-year to $582 million, and up sequentially from $563 million.
