Just in case you didn't know it, New York Comic Con starts tomorrow. For the initiated, get initiated. I am not going to explain it here. For those who know -- get there. There shouldn't be a brand
manager, creative, or television and/or film executive who isn't planning on attending at least one day.
Why? Do I have to actually tell you? This isn't about geeks and freaks, people;
this is about the mainstream. This is about an entertainment form that in penetrating every media platform - from television to films to games to books to educational material. Don't believe me?
Check this out, from a press release I received a couple of weeks back:
Dreams and schemes! Alliances and betrayals! Murder and mayhem! Passions and poisons! Shakespeare has it all,
and now you can experience the action and appreciate the intrigue in Shakespeare -- The Manga Edition!
I am
talking about Hamlet, Julius Caesar, Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet. How could you possibly think to miss this? If only as an anthropological or sociological exercise into consumerism -- but mainly to
ensure that you are there first -- get out of your chair and ivory "reality" tower and see where the future lies, my friends.
