CBS Outernet, Zoom Media Join OVAB

logoThe Out-of-Home Video Advertising Bureau is adding new members to its ranks, welcoming CBS Outernet, Zoom Media and Arena Media Networks this week. These big players join dozens of other place-based video networks that have come together in the consortium to establish a new metric for exposure to out-of-home video advertising.

The CBS Outernet is a video network serving over 1,500 retail locations around the country, previously known as SignStorey until CBS acquired and rebranded it last year.

Actually, the Outernet strategy began as a collection of place-based video networks, some independent and some owned by CBS. In 2007, for example, CBS partnered with Healium, a video network serving waiting rooms in doctors' offices that is set to include 120,000 medical practices by the end of 2008, delivering 3 million viewers per month. And in January, CBS struck a deal to provide content and advertising to Ripple.
