Mobile ad network AdMob has launched a free analytics service that lets mobile site owners track metrics including unique visitors and length of visits as well as usage according to geography,
wireless operator and device.
AdMob Mobile Analytics does not require users to be participants in its ad network--the aim is to be a Google Analytics for the mobile world. The lack
of sufficient mobile measurement and ad standards has long been viewed as an obstacle to the expansion of mobile advertising.
"We hope AdMob Mobile Analytics will provide a further catalyst for
the growth of the mobile Web," said Omar Hamoui, founder and CEO of AdMob, in a statement.
Advertisers can also use the service to track the effectiveness of campaigns by tracking activity on
mobile ad landing pages. Furthermore, AdMob said its analytics software could be used to compare the results of campaigns across mobile ad platforms such as those that run Google, AOL's Third Screen
Media, and its own network.
Sign-ups for the private beta are at http://analytics.admob.com.
