A top Comcast executive said Monday
that the cable industry's initiative to develop an interactive ad platform has hired a CEO and will announce its selection June 1, according to
Multichannel News.
Comcast COO Steve Burke made the announcement in a session at the national cable convention in New Orleans. A consortium of MSOs have joined to develop what's known as Project Canoe.
Former
Carat CEO David Verklin is expected to get the job, per a report in Advertising Age.
Project Canoe looks to allow advertisers to run interactive spots across the inventory controlled by
multiple cable operators. If an advertiser wants less than a national footprint, it could run targeted spots reaching demographic segments.
