CBS Interactive announced Monday it's launching a new video player that will let users watch network programs online in an HD-quality, full-screen format. The new player will be distributed across
CBS.com and the CBS Audience Network, which includes AOL, Yahoo and CNet Networks, among other sites.
CBS said the redesigned player makes browsing and searching for video more
user-friendly and allows people to share clips and embed videos on blogs and social networking profiles.
"Our new video player platform takes advantage of the new social medium online by
combining the most advanced video technology with our expertise in premium content programming to deliver new ways to discover and enjoy entertainment online," said Anthony Soohoo, SVP and GM of
Entertainment at CBS Interactive, in a statement.
Soohoo was brought on in April as part of a management overhaul at CBS Interactive that included the seating of Bryon Rubin as its new chief
financial officer. The unit in April also launched a new satellite office in Menlo Park, Calif. to help facilitate partnerships in and around Silicon Valley.
