Sideways Ain't Just a Hollywood Movie

Turns out that visitors to Portfolio.com were coming in sideways, through search, etc, consuming media in different ways. So, even though the editors and such wanted to redesign the homepage to something great, "and it's a beautiful homepage," says Ari , "but that's not how people are coming in. the idea is giving people enough relevant information on an article page" so people know the whole portfolio of.. Portfolio.

Makes sense, and I can totally relate that to MediaPost. We have TONS of offerings, talented writers, really great events, and we're always thinking of how to tie it all together for the article reader, event registrant... without overloading the messaging.

Which makes me think, there must be a really delicate balance between serving up related info contextually and relevant information article level -- and muddling the audience's brain and attention span.
