  • July 3, 2008
Skype has named Scott Durchslag COO.

The tech and telecom vet brings 20 years of experience to the position, including stints with The Chasm Group, Grand Central and McKinsey & Company. He most recently served as Motorola's corporate vice president of Global Product & Experience Invention. Durchslag spent five years with the consumer electronics giant, taking on roles such as general manager of South Asia and Chief Strategy Officer of the personal communications sector.

"I believe in Skype not only because I've been a user since the early days, but also because I'm convinced the opportunities ahead for Skype are tremendous given how the world is changing," Durchslag said. Durchslag will report to the Skype's recently appointed President, Josh Silverman. The Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) provider is a division of eBay.
