The site for the simpsons movie invited users to become part of the neighborhood. Users could create an avatar, tour Springfield and play games based on the characters. The avatar function especially caught on - entire offices created avatars of themselves, and users posted images of their personalized avatars across the Web, including Facebook, MySpace and other networking sites. The site included clips from the upcoming movie, wallpapers, ringtones and screensavers. Offered in 12 languages, the site reached the series' worldwide audience.
