  • August 29, 2008
Comcast will impose a cap of 250GB per month data usage for all residential customers beginning Oct. 1.

"If a customer uses more than 250GB and is one of the top users of our service, he or she may be contacted by Comcast to notify them of excessive use," the company stated.

Comcast said that the median monthly data usage by residentail customers is currently 2-3 GB per month. The company estimated that to use 250GB, customers would have to send 50 million emails, download 62,500 songs or 125 standard-definition movies, or upload 25,000 hi-resolution digital photos.--Wendy Davis
