Contest Puts Gamer In 'Guitar Hero'

  • November 3, 2008
GameStop and "Guitar Hero: World Tour" have launched a Web site and sweepstakes that will put the winner in a "Guitar Hero" game, literally. The prize includes round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations in Los Angeles, a meeting with game developers, a photo shoot to have their likeness captured for an avatar in a future "Guitar Hero" game and $1,000.

Fans can upload videos and photos of themselves rocking out to "Guitar Hero: World Tour" to the microsite. Visitors to the site will vote for the winner. The contest runs for eight weeks. The person receiving the top vote each week receives a $400 GameStop gift card.

Aside from the contest, the site features a section to unlock the 84 downloadable songs for those who pre-order through GameStop, as well as Rock Name Generator, a gallery of the greatest rock poses, guitar skins and wallpaper.--Laurie Sullivan
