Gannett has acquired social media services and tools provider Ripple6. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Along with social services and tools, Ripple6 offers an analytics tools
based on word-of-mouth measurement and mapping capabilities.
Ripple6 has an existing relationship with Gannett. Ripple6, for one, had been powering Gannett's MomsLikeMe.com sites, which recently
rolled out in 80 local markets across the country.
Based in New York, Ripple6 is currently planning to launch a social network with Meredith Corp.'s "Better Homes and Gardens" dubbed
MixingBowl.com. Its other clients and partners include Procter & Gamble, Gannett Co., and General Mills.
As part of the transaction, the 10% share of Ripple6 owned by Chris Saridakis, senior vice
president and chief digital officer of Gannett, was bought out completely by Gannett. He did not participate in the sale negotiations, according to the company.--Gavin O'Malley
