While you'd never know it from the financial results of retail companies, a new survey indicates that Americans may be shopping more than usual in this period of economic unrest, even if they are
spending less.
Some 53% say they are shopping as much as or more despite the downturns, says Callison, a retail design firm that conducted the study. Some 44% are actively seeking
out coupons, promotions and specials; 64% say that sales, promotions and specials are a top factor in deciding where to shop; and 59% say that lower-priced merchandise has a positive influence on
