“They say the choices you make today are what your future
self has to live with,” toasts the best man at a wedding in a :60 PSA. He then spills his drink on the bride’s dress, leading to disaster.
“You can’t undo
everything in life, but you can undo prediabetes,” concludes a voiceover.
Marking the tenth year of a joint prediabetes awareness campaign, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the
Ad Council have unveiled this humorous Avoq-created spot, which is also available in :30 and :15 cuts. Print, radio, out-of-home, digital banner and social media “Undo It” content, has also been created, in both English and
Spanish.
Another PSA, involving a bad haircut, is forthcoming in a few weeks, the Ad Council tells Marketing Daily.

In its first decade, the Ad Council says, the “Do I Have Prediabetes?” campaign has resulted in more than
10 million visits to those sites, some 30 million people taking online one-minute risk tests, and over 333,000 referrals to the National Diabetes Prevention Program.
Prediabetes can lead to
type 2 diabetes. But while 40% of Americans have prediabetes, 80% of those don’t know they have it, note the CDC and Ad Council.
People who get a high-risk score via the test at the
campaign websites receive additional resources and are encouraged to speak with their doctors about getting a blood test to confirm a prediabetes diagnosis.
“Getting diagnosed with
prediabetes by your doctor can give you enough time to make positive lifestyle and diet changes so you can change the outcome,” states the site.
In addition to the PSA campaign, the CDC
says it is working with partners “to further amplify the campaign across communities, using evidence-based materials to inform physicians and other health care providers about the screening,
diagnosis, and treatment process.”
