PV Launches BreakingNews.com, Gives Instant Ad Push

Steve Rosenberg of PV MediaA new Internet news site, BreakingNews.com, is launching, growing out of existing digital ad networks--PV Media Group's AdOn Network and Premium Access Media. PV Media Group has formed a joint venture with long-time newswire service Breaking News Network to start up BreakingNews.com--a domain name that the companies say is one of the most highly searched news terms on the Web.

Steve Rosenberg, CEO of PV Media, says BreakingNews.com will get an instant marketing push from its ad networks, appearing on media and other behaviorally targeted sites that focus on the news. This will give BreakingNews.com quick access to millions of impressions.

Rosenberg, a former senior Universal Television Group executive, started up PV Media Group in January of this year. AdOn Network was founded in 1999; Premium Access Media network began operations this year.

Another PV Media Group company, Prime Visibility--a search engine optimization and pay-per-click company--will use its proprietary SEO technology to enable BreakingNews.com to immediately capture paid search words for stories.

The BreakingNews site intends to target users who are news junkies--even giving those users a tool that detects PR spin.

In conjunction with the announcement, BreakingNews.com has appointed James McDonald as president and CEO. He had been PV Media's vice president of corporate sales and development, and previously ran free daily newspapers in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., where he developed The Washington Examiner.

In addition, John Wilpers has been named as editor of BreakingNews.com. He had been a newspaper consultant, recently working with the Los Angeles Times and The Miami Herald, helping them to integrate content into their sites. Earlier, Wilpers served as editor of The Washington Examiner.
