Yahoo and Virgin Media have inked a deal that will result in sponsored search results and listings through the Virgin Media mobile portal in early 2009.
The focus aims to give
advertisers reach into target audiences and to gain returns on investments in mobile.
Both companies said Monday that Yahoo oneSearch will power Internet search on Virgin Media's mobile portal
scheduled to debut Dec. 8. Along with news, music, video, games and entertainment from Virgin, the deal puts Yahoo's mobile search tool into consumers' hands.
Yahoo oneSearch returns results in
the first screen, removing the need for consumers to navigate through thousands of links to find information. For example, searching on the football team "New York Giants" returns the latest scores,
fixtures, team profiles, news, images and a link to the team's Web site. Searches for movies return show times at local cinemas, reviews, news articles and information on the cast.--Laurie Sullivan
