Bob Vila.com Bolsters Its Video Experience

bobvila.comBobVila.com, the "do-it-yourself" site focused on home improvement, has entered into a partnership with video search and monetization technology provider EveryZing to provide its community with a better online video experience.

By integrating EveryZing's new MetaPlayer, BobVila.com plans to offer an interactive viewing experience, along with viral features and patent-pending "jump-to" capabilities.

"If visitors are searching for information on how to insulate pipes, now they can simply search BobVila.com to find the video, search within the video to find the exact point at which Bob says 'foam insulation' and then actually clip the video and send it to a friend," said says David Masher, vice president of design and development at BobVila.com.

"It is miles ahead of what other DYI sites are doing, and we're excited to share this with our online community," Masher added.

In addition, the site is licensing EveryZing's entire product suite, including its search optimization technologies ezSEO and ezSEARCH, along with RAMP.

According to Masher, BobVila.com hand-picked EveryZing to provide the solution for monetizing their content library of how-to videos and Bob Vila's Home Again and Bob Vila video clips from the past 17 years.

Indeed, "BobVila.com had a staggering head start because they already had great online video content at their disposal," said EveryZing CEO Tom Wilde. "They only needed to find a better way of monetizing it."

Based in Cambridge, Mass., EveryZing's core intellectual property and capabilities include speech-to-text technology and natural language processing.

Existing EveryZing clients include NewsCorp, Disney, CBS, Cox, and Thomson-Reuters.

Until the summer of 2007, EveryZing was actually known to the world as Podzinger, a podcast search engine.

Launched in early 2006, Podzinger first allowed content providers to make their audio and video files available through its search engine. The company later launched an ad platform serving targeted 10- to 15-second pre-roll video and audio ads before podcasts.
