Online video provider Veoh Networks has struck a deal with the digital TV unit of German media giant Axel Springer AG in which the company will sell Veoh programming locally as part of cross-platform media packages offered to advertisers.

The partnership gives Axel Springer's sales force entree to Veoh's one million young-skewing users in Germany as well as its German-language audience in other European markets. At the same time, Los Angeles-based Veoh gets help monetizing its content outside the U.S.

Axel Springer publishes more than 150 newspapers and magazines including Die Welt and Bild. Under their new agreement, its Digital TV Guide GmbH subsidiary will also work with Veoh on technology initiatives involving its digital TV software and Veoh's video search and recommendation technologies.

In the U.S., Veoh has partnered with thousands of content providers from independent producers to major TV networks including CBS, MTV Networks and ABC. The company says its programming draws 28 million unique viewers a month.--Mark Walsh
