Hayes Promoted To CEO, Cox Enterprises

Jimmy W. Hayes of Cox EnterprisesJimmy W. Hayes has been promoted to CEO of Cox Enterprises. James C. Kennedy will remain chairman of the company.

In his new role, Hayes will provide oversight to Cox Communications, Manheim Auctions, Cox Media Group, which includes its newspaper, TV and radio divisions, Cox Auto Trader and several corporate units, including financial operations, HR, administration and business development. He is currently a member of the board of directors of Cox Enterprises and Cox Radio.

The media group includes 17 daily and 26 non-daily newspaper publications, including ones in Ohio, Texas, Colorado and Florida, 15 television broadcast stations, 86 radio stations and more than 100 digital services aligned with these businesses.

Kennedy said that in these difficult times, "Jimmy's skills and experience are perfectly suited for the job."

Prior to his appointment, Hayes--a 16-year Cox veteran--was its executive vice president of finance and CFO. Hayes began his career at Cox in 1980; in 1982, he was named a corporate officer.

Cox Enterprises reports revenues in excess of $15 billion and more than 78,000 employees.
