NATPE Goes To MacWorld

Traditional TV organizations continue to seek new venues to sell their programming and services.

Now, the longtime National Association of Television Program Executives group will put on two TV panels at this week's MacWorld Conference & Expo, in San Francisco--a first for the TV programming group.

NATPE, which continues to reinvent itself as a focus for all TV content, will have one panel called "NATPE at MacWorld: TV, Mobile TV and the iPhone." It will analyze how television shows are expanding their audiences by making use of customized iPhone applications, as well as new video consumer products and platforms.

The panel "So You Want To Sell Your Idea to Television?" will analyze developing content and technology partnerships and the best way to approach studios, networks and syndicators, along with advice on digital rights management.

In a statement, NATPE President and CEO Rick Feldman said: "NATPE is dedicated to celebrating and monetizing great professional video content. MacWorld is a wonderful platform for us to highlight how content and distribution can best work together to serve consumer needs."

NATPE holds its annual market and conference meeting later this month--January 26-29, 2009--at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas.

This week, a number of TV companies will again have a presence at the big International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, including NBC Universal, Discovery Networks, Sony Pictures Television and Comcast-owned G4 network.

Media analysts say TV companies continue to seek deals that attach themselves to new consumer digital products as new distribution systems look to replace old ones.
