Yahoo Search Adds Specialized Wikipedia Results

  • January 16, 2009
Yahoo has begun including deep links and images from Wikipedia within its search results.

Delivered via Yahoo's SearchMonkey platform that lets Web sites customize their Yahoo search listings, the Wikipedia results will include links to the first four sections of an article and a snippet from the summary. A photo, if available, will also be displayed.

The Wikipedia SearchMonkey application is turned on by default, along with others by Flickr, Yelp, LinkedIn and Zagat. Users can also opt out of using them.--Mark Walsh
