  • What's Machinima Got To Do With It? in Video Insider on 06/27/2012

Video games are hot right now. You might have heard of Machinima.com, the YouTube video gamer channel which, as first reported by AllThingsD, recently closed a $35 million funding round led by Google. As Paul Rossi of The Economist Group said to me as he studied my business card: "What is machinima exactly?" And he looked at me in full knowledge that I wasn't a 15-year-old boy.

  • Cartoonification, The New Trend Of 2012 in Video Insider on 12/29/2011

Ask anyone you know who their favorite cartoon character is, and they will have an answer for you, possibly more than one. Cartoons and animation are a part of our lives, our visual entertainment, our early identity and frame of reference. The rise of animation has also entered our living rooms in full force with video games.

  • Starring In Your OWN Cartoon Movie  in Video Insider on 08/30/2011

Last week the Oprah Winfrey Network premiered a movie called "Life 2.0," a documentary on Second Life - and how pretending in avatar form unveils previously unknown capabilities as well as longing.

  • The New Landscape Of Video in Video Insider on 03/16/2011

While the Oscars were on, 37 million watched the annual extravaganza. The Super Bowl was also well attended this year, but these truly broadcast moments that capture a nation's and a world's attention are fewer and farther between. Things have changed in the new world of viewership and there are opportunities in this shift of screens for marketing.

  • Facebook Buys Into A 3D Future Of Marketing by Thom Forbes (Marketing Daily - Top of the News on 03/26/2014)

Indeed this is the next step measured how far we will go in clicks not miles. The Living Screen where we become part of the action is here and growing. Just published this and it might be of great interest http://virtualworldtelevision.com/2014/03/26/why-virtual-world-television-living-screen/

  • The Parent Trap: The Miley Virus by (Mad Blog on 08/27/2013)

Have to admit I am not looking forward to Emma Watson being cast in "50 Shades of Grey" and dismay at the teen leaders who will serve in that dark drama. Robert Pattinson, also up for the lead has a huge audience of quite young people..... Are we simply refusing to acknowledge the consequences of our childrens heroes doing soft core porn?

  • Inspiration At Work by Bob Garfield (Garfield at Large on 05/13/2013)

  • Messaging The Shooter by Bob Garfield (Garfield at Large on 01/07/2013)

This is an impassioned plea for humanity and it is so great to read - Thank you. I also fear that all this gamifying of murder is just truly desentisizing us to how important human life really is, and encouraging us to view people as disposable. Truly something is wrong with that! Really appreciate you Mr. Garfield and the best to you and yours this 2013. Peace on Earth & Goodwill to all!

  • Video Stories: Marketing's Next Big Thing by Neil Perry (Video Insider on 09/18/2012)

Love what you are saying Neil - Years ago I remember a commercial series for "Taster's Choice" that revolved around a woman who just moved into an apartment building and her very handsome neighbor. Needless to say, I tried Taster's Choice, I felt I had to! Story is at the heart of all sales because in emotive strength we find our simulation trigger. The more we identify the greater the chance of incorporating said product into our lives. If a picture is a thousands words, than video is a million!

  • Mitt, Barack And The Persuadables by (Mad Blog on 08/24/2012)

Barbara Lippert hits the nail on the head - Love reading your blog. Yes delivering services to constituents is really what Gov't should be about. The FCC is owned by we, the people and airtime really should be given free as it is in the UK for example. Best line ever- "Wouldn’t politicians want to be remembered for the social good they did while running, rather than the barrage of negative ads they left behind?" Remembered for the Social Good - this phrase has true meaning. TY Barbara!

  • Helen Gurley Brown, 90, Marketer Of That 'Cosmo Girl' by Thom Forbes (Marketing Daily - Top of the News on 08/14/2012)

Great Lady, I had the opportunity to meet her many years ago. She was a wonderful leader and visionary who also never forgot how important those human relationships really are. RIP Ms Brown.

  • Junior Kardashians Invest Gillette Video With Gravitas by Larry Dobrow (Video Critique on 07/31/2012)

Ahoy John! Great to be following you following me - My Bad! or perhaps that is My Good! ('Cause we all know bad is good right?) John you really have to stalk someone else though....! Larry, some of it IS humorous and I do get that - I also register a total lack of respect for past cultural heroes in our disposable razor blade age, which I'm guessing one has to be part of to fully endorse. And I must be crazy man craaazy to think saying Dr. King sounds like a rhino vomiting is a diss -John, you would call it what then? I read "not a diss" do you have a whole word for what it is? Call me corn husk Cracker Jack and Yankee Doodly Do but that is just the kind of hairpin I am. I am no fan of rhino vomit - but I guess I might be alone here - at least when you are dealing with tween spit. Oh *snap* typo, I meant spirit!!! S'-p

  • Junior Kardashians Invest Gillette Video With Gravitas by Larry Dobrow (Video Critique on 07/31/2012)

Dr. Martin Luther King "sounds like a rhino vomiting" and the adorable 14 & 16 year old Kardashians are leaders of today? This is very disturbing Larry.... Your admiration for teen spirit is ...interesting (How old are you might I ask?) Guess you adore them for your own reasons, which as long as they are legal I have no trouble with. Kind of... Your comment on the great Dr. King though is deeply disturbing, and I was brought up to not have to put anyone down to make myself look good or even to be understood. I guess I find your remarks shocking! Dr. King was nobody's shill though of course and to my knowledge was never paid to endorse a product, which might not make him admirable in your eyes, however what he did for the human spirit is unmatchable. I am not sure he was ever called upon to accessorize in public though, a measure you obviously place great standing on. I am sitting here with my jaw dropped to the floor on your closing line. While I might agree the young Ms Kardashians have long lives ahead of them and what their totally aspirational selves might accomplish yet is still to come, I found it somewhat offensive that you would make those remarks about the late and truly great Dr. Martin Luther King.
