- Steve Harvey's Miss Universe 'Mistake' Almost Certainly Wasn't

(MediaDailyNews on

This isnt the first time Harvey has made a mistake so I don't find it unbelievable that this was accidental. I think you are also making a lot of assumptions that Miss Universe is some sort of top tier produced show: It isn't. Harvey was seen at the bar drinking just an hour before this gaffe. And he blew off rehearsals. So yeah, it was just a gaffe.
- A Half-Baked Apple TV

(Mobile Insider on

I agree with you Steve. I'd also add that this "appification" is a general challenge with the idea of cord cutting. If you are on Comcast or some other similarly awful cable system the UI at least is all on one screen. With cord cutting you are popping in and out of different apps to get to different content. Be it your HD OTA antenna, Sling, HULU, Netflix, etc. It's actually a worse experience than what we already have which is really shocking because it is hard to imagine a user experience worse than what we already have. On top of that you really are not saving any money and opting instead for more cursing. Cord cutting and Apple TV are definitely not ready for prime time yet. Half-Baked indeed.

How is this different from GDN/YouTube? He says they are integrated with GDN, BrightRoll, and others but isn't this just another arbitrage model?

Funny piece! There have been numerous studies done now that show that the funnel as marketers think of it doesnt really exist and perhaps never existed. The Microsoft Red study is one that posits this reality. It is much more of a non-linear experience than the funnel. That said the funnel is still very useful in thinking about messaging. Surprise! Surprise!
The research keeps stacking up about the importance of creative over big data media placement yet few seem to really be getting it. comScore has said better creative will be 4x more effective than the best media placement yet we still have an ocean of companies trying to sell us better data... How about showing a little prowess and provide a little of both?

- Apple's '1.24.14' Lacks Originality
by

(Video Critique on

What is there to hate here? This is spot on Apple. The product has always been the hero in Apple advertisements. Now they have tied together the promise of the product with the user, thereby humanizing it and making it more aspirational. The fact that it was all shot on an iPhone and in one day makes it EXTREMELY aspirational. A great spot. Loved it.
Re; Direction: The spot does show that apple products are pretty and simple to use. In fact it shows Apple products being used in numerous mission critical operations. Perhaps I saw a different spot?
