McCann, Compass Point Land Ashley Furniture Account

Ashley Furniture HomeStore appointed Interpublic Group’s McCann New York as its lead strategic, creative and social agency after a review, the company has confirmed. Sibling agency Compass Point Media (part of Campbell Mithun was awarded media planning chores. 

Ashley spent spent an estimated $125 million on ads last year according to Kantar. 

Omnicom’s Zimmerman was the client’s creative incumbent. Buying duties, handled by barter trading shop Icon International, also part of Omnicom, were not part of the review.

Arcadia, Wis.-based Ashley Furniture HomeStore, the retail unit of Ashely Furniture Industries, claims to be the top selling furniture store brand in North America and has over 500 locations worldwide. The company had more than $3 billion in sales in 2013. 

For McCann, it’s the second significant win this week. Earlier, it landed the Cigna insurance account, with an estimated $35 million in spending annually.
