Clear Channel Strikes OOH Deal With DC Area Airports

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and Clear Channel Airports (CCA) struck a deal for an eight-year, $151 million contract for indoor and outdoor display advertising at Washington DC’s Washington Dulles International and Ronald Reagan Washington airports.

The contract began March 1and includes an option to extend the partnership a further two years.

The displays will reach 41 million travelers annually from both airports combined.

Toby Sturek, EVP, specialty businesses, Clear Channel Outdoor Americas, stated the deal "offers brands and agency specialists a one-stop solution to reach consumers across the entire Washington, D.C. area."

CCA will build new digital displays and networks in both airports. In Washington Dulles, four digital networks will be added, as well as 75 digital screens and three large format digital screens. Reagan National will include six digital networks featuring 49 smaller digital screens and three 21-foot digital screens.

Clear Channel manages advertising at about 120 airports in the US, including Chicago’s O’hare and Midway, Seattle, Denver International, Miami, Dallas-Fort Worth, and San Francisco International.

CCA will also include digital directories, visitor information centers, complimentary phone charging stations, and work surfaces.

It’s been reported that Clear Channel has committed a $12.5 million minimum guarantee in the first year, which will increase to $17 million in the eighth year and the two potential extension years.
