Toyota Creates Tacoma Dog Toy For Giveaway

Just in time for the holidays, Toyota Motor North America is giving away a dog toy in the shape of its new Tacoma pickup truck.

The hard rubber toy first made an appearance on Toyota USA social channels a few months ago and consumers asked where they could obtain one.

In response to the overwhelmingly “pawsitive” feedback, the automaker says it will give away 500 limited-edition Tacoma T.R.D. (Tough and Rough Dogs) chew toys.

They are heavy — over a pound — and appear to be made from a similar material to the popular (and nearly indestructible) Kong brand toys.

The promotion was created by AOR Saatchi & Saatchi.

Starting Dec. 13, U.S.-based Toyota enthusiasts and dog lovers alike can visit http://toyotatoughandroughdogs.com/ to snag their very own Tacoma dog toy while supplies last.

“Like the all-new 2024 Tacoma, this toy is specially engineered to withstand the roughest and toughest of terrains – including the fiercest of nibbles,” per the automaker.  “Who needs a sleigh when mom or dad has a Tacoma? From playing in the backyard to riding in the truck, doggos everywhere will be sure to say, ‘Let’s Go Places.’”

The Tacoma T.R.D. Chew Toy will be making special appearances at various upcoming Toyota-sponsored events throughout the coming year.

Toyota also is donating a handful of the toys to Operation Frodo, a rescue transport scheduled for next week. A group of automotive journalists are using press fleet vehicles to move a dozen rescue Beagle and Basset Hound mixes from Omaha, Nebraska to Portland, Oregon.
