The videos are posted on the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board website to paint L.A. as a hot spot for tourism again.

    The Tolkien family, heirs of the late J.R.R. Tolkien, is suing the producers of "The Lord of the Rings" and the upcoming movie "The Hobbit" for allegedly "selling digital rights to an online slot machine game," reports the Christian Science Monitor. The lawsuit was filed last Monday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

    Los Angeles-based start-up Maker Studios leads a "big round" of financing from Time Warner. According to AllThingsD, it is a $40 million round that "should close within the next [two] weeks."
  • Downtown LA Plays Host to 'Twilight' Fans
    According to The Hour, many "Twilight" fans are pouring into Los Angeles this week in preparation for the premier of the final movie. About 1,500 Twilight fans camped out in front of the Nokia Theatre for the chance at catching a glimpse of the movie's stars when they appeared for the premier while enjoying the company of other "Twi-Hards."
  • Indie Book Publishing is Working in LA
    Anthony Berryman, a Compton High School English and philosophy teacher, founded Mugger Press in Eagle Rock in 2011, according to LA Weekly. A book-publishing house in today's world seems unlikely to succeed, but Berryman has been finding success publishing indie books from the LA area.
