Year-over-year, Samsung expects operating profit to increase by 50% in the first quarter, the tech giant said this week. “Samsung’s ready to claw its way back from the Galaxy Note 7 disaster,” CNet writes. Specifically, “Samsung said its overall operating profit should leap to 9.9 trillion won ($8.8 billion) from 6.68 trillion won a year earlier.”

Blendle -- which some people apparently refer to as “iTunes for news” -- is reportedly receiving investment funds from Financial Times owner Nikkei and investment fund INKEF Capital. As Poynter points out, the investment comes about a year after the Dutch company made its U.S. debut. “Blendle launched with much fanfare in the United States last March with partners including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post,” Poynter notes.

Amazon just unveiled Skills, a suite of tools for Alexa app developers, which, as TechCrunch writes, “aim to give them more insight into their app’s users, as well as allow them to build location-based skills.” Skill includes a metrics dashboard, which TC suggests is “similar to those used by developers of mobile applications, but designed for these voice apps.”

Google Play Games Services is dropping support for iOS games. As 9To5Google reports: “iOS compatibility will be removed due to ‘low usage,’ with the latest Native SDK … dropping support with no future updates planned.” Additionally, “On Android, in-game features like Gifts, Requests, and Quests will be phased out due to similar reasons.”

As promised, Twitch has started selling games through its platform. “Twitch said users will be able to purchase games directly from Twitch channels and game pages -- whether you're using the website or the newly launched desktop app,” Pocket-Lint reports. “At launch, there around 50 titles available, including For Honor, Telltale’s Walking Dead series, and more.”
