Comcast has named Steve Dolcemaschio as the second-ranking executive in its entertainment division, which includes the E network as well as G4, a channel that targets young men and focuses on gaming and cutting-edge technology.

As COO of the Comcast Entertainment Group, he will lead finance and business operations for the collection of networks, a role that stretches from financial planning to production oversight.

He will report to Ted Harbert, president-CEO of the Comcast unit, who called Dolcemaschio "the business and operational mastermind behind our networks' ongoing growth and success."

The new COO, who boasts roots on the agency side, was previously executive vice president for finance and business operations. He joined E nine years ago; before that, he was COO/CFO at BBDO on the West Coast.
