Microsoft on Tuesday launched Microsoft Recite, a voice search technology for Windows phones version 6.0 or later.
It provides users with a simple way to capture, search and retrieve
spoken notes and reminders using voice without the need to navigate menus or type text. The tool organizes a user's spoken words based on the same or similar terms and phrases.
The application
relies on voice matching, which differs from speech recognition because it doesn't convert the spoken words to text. The tool analyzes speech patterns and finds matches between two recordings based on
inflections. Recite allows users to store and search through thousands of spoken notes. A free preview download is available for some cell phone models.--Laurie Sullivan
