Longer search queries, averaging five or more words in length, increased 10% in January 2009, compared with the year-ago month, according to Hitwise.
The research firm said shorter
queries, averaging between one and four words in length, have decreased 2%, during the same time period.
Google accounted for 72.09% of all U.S. searches conducted in January. Yahoo Search, MSN
Search and Ask.com received 17.81%, 5.44% and 3.31%, respectively. The remaining 44 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.35% of U.S. searches.--Laurie Sullivan
