Google's YouTube Surpassed 100 Million U.S. Viewers

U.S. Internet users viewed 14.8 billion online videos in January 2009, up 4%, sequentially, according to comScore Video Metrix.

YouTube led the growth, accounting for 91% of the gains in videos viewed, compared with December. Google's online video site surpassed 100 million viewers in January for the first time.

Google Sites in January once again ranked as the top U.S. video property with 6.4 billion videos viewed, taking 43% of the online video market share, with YouTube.com accounting for more than 99% of all videos viewed.

Fox Interactive Media ranked second with 552 million videos, 3.7%, followed by Yahoo Sites with 374 million, 2.5%, and Viacom Digital, 288 million, or 1.9%. Megavideo climbed 15%, 103 million videos, in January ranking No. 10 for the first time.--Laurie Sullivan
