Way To Dig The 'President,' Marc

Is it just me, or is everyone zinging someone in their Four As media conference comments? First GroupM chief Irwin Gotlieb takes on the editors of Advertising Age. Then Four As president Nancy Hill takes on Adweek’s Brian Morrissey. Now GroupM’s Marc Goldstein, and Four As media policy chair, is taking a slap at Nancy Hill. Okay, it was kind of a subtle, passive aggressive one, but I heard it. Did you?

In an attempt to cast a ray of hope, Goldstein cited the election of Barack Obama as president of the U.S. as something that has “inspired” America, and given us all hope.

“Our industry does not have a Barack Obama that can inspire us that way,” Goldstein said referring to one president, but ignoring another, the Four As’ Hill.

“I think that’s okay,” Goldstein added. “Why do I think that? Because I think we can do that ourselves.”
