Twitter made a move into online advertising this week after Microsoft bought a sponsorship on the company's ExecTweets site.
The move is seen as being the answer to those who note
that the microblogging site has yet to develop a business model. The ExecTweet page pulls in a collection of tweets written by corporate executives.
Microsoft now supports the branded page
powered by Twitter, but operated by online advertising firm Federated Media. The ExecTweet page is being touted as a way to "find and follow top business execs on Tweeter" using 140 characters or
less. Some of the most popular tweets are from Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh, and Virgin Group Mogul Richard Branson.--Laurie Sullivan
