In its continued pursuit to recreate the early days of the Fox network, CW has added "Melrose Place" to its fall lineup, as well as two other shows, as part of its upfront programming presentation.
"Place" will have a spot right behind "90210" on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. Both original shows were part of a growth spurt for Fox in the early 1990s.
CW will also add "The
Beautiful Life," a scripted show about a high-fashion model and the fashion world. This will be a natural companion to "America's Next Top Model," which runs from 8 to 9 p.m. on that night. "Life"
will run at 9 p.m.
CW will break up its Thursday night schedule, moving out "Smallville" to a Friday night 8 p.m. time slot.
Moving more toward the sci-fi category on the night, CW will
start up "The Vampire Diaries" at 8 p.m., about a female high-school student who is fascinated by a mysterious new male student, who turns out to be a vampire. "Supernatural" continues at 9 p.m for
the night.

For midseason, CW has "Parental Discretion Advised," a drama about a young teenager who becomes an emancipated minor, which leads her to her biological father.
For the
moment, CW has take a pass on a "Gossip Girl" spinoff. CW also canceled its comedy block of shows, including "The Game" and "Everybody Hates Chris," as well as the drama "Privileged."
The
network has also given Sunday night back to its affiliates to program, although stations may still be associated with "Reaper," a show that was on CW's schedule last season but did not make the cut
for next year. "Reaper" may find a home via a direct syndication deal with the producers.
