Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia has
tapped Janet Balis to serve as executive vice president of media sales and marketing, where she will oversee sales across the publishing, broadcast and digital properties. She will report to Charles
Koppelman, the executive chairman.
For the past year and a half, Balis has been with a consultancy she founded herself in 2008, Digital Media Strategies. She had served in various
positions at Time Warner for eight years, including five at Time Inc. There, she headed sales for 20 Web sites, including Time.com and People.com. Her tenure ended as senior vice president of sales
development for AOL Media Networks.
Koppelman said Balis is a "creative leader in cross-platform initiatives."
"MSLO is an exciting company with powerful and differentiated brands in the
advertising marketplace," Balis said. "I admire Martha Stewart's ability to connect with her consumers across a variety of platforms. This is not simply about audiences that are engaged by the content
-- these consumers are inspired to take action."
