General Electric is close to a deal that would give Comcast a 51% stake in its NBC Universal unit, according to a report in today's
New York Times. Citing anonymous sources, the paper said the
deal would result in GE retaining a 49% stake in the media division. GE currently owns an 80% stake in NBC Universal, and is in talks with minority stake-holder Vivendi to sell its 20% share, which is
key to making the Comcast deal happen.
