HEADLINERS THIS WEEK:

PAMELA RALEY has been promoted to vice president, advertising and sponsorship sales for Disney Online. Raley has been with Disney Online since 1998, joining as senior manager of advertising sales, and eventually rising to director of advertising sales.

DAVE KERR has been brought on to join the management team of Strategic Media Research as its new President. Kerr was most recently VP/Operations at AMFM Interactive.

NORMAN VALE, Director-General of the International Advertising Association, will join Morgan Anderson Consulting as Managing Director of the firm's new affiliate, Morgan Anderson International.

BRIAN J. FLAHERTY has joined Grey Ink as Senior Vice President, Managing Director. He was most recently Director of Direct Mail Production at Time Inc.

PAUL SHAPIRO has joined Dudnyk Advertising as an account supervisor. He most recently worked as an account supervisor for Waypoint Group in Wilmington, Del.

SHARON SCHANZER has been named vice president of sales and marketing of VirtualGiveaway. Schanzer was most recently vice president of client services of ProductPOP.

JAMI OPINSKY has been named advertising director for Vanity Fair. She most recently served as the advertising director for Ladies Home Journal.

DAVID GEITHNER has been upped to general manager of The People Group. He had been working as general manager, and before that business manager, for Teen People and People En Español.

STEVE DUFFETT has been promoted to vice president of advertising sales at elevator media network Captivate Network Inc. He previously served as vice president of business development.

BRUCE HAYNES has joined advertising agency Doner as vice president and media manager of national broadcast. He most recently served as vice president and associate director of strategic communications planning for Chevy Truck.

ANDREW CHRISTY is joining Moroch Partners as director of promotions and event marketing. He most recently served as managing director of Star Reach Marketing Communications. Also at Moroch, HECTOR PEREZ has been named director of LA Embajada, the company's Hispanic unit. He was last seen at Ad Americas.

REID ASHE has been named president and chief operating officer at Media General Inc. He had been working as publisher and president of Media General paper The Tampa Tribune. MARSHALL N. MORTON will now become vice chairman at Media General. He had been the Tribune's chief financial officer and senior vice president.

FARLEY DAY has been named advertising director of Boating at Hachette Filipacchi Magazines. He had been vice president of marketing at Influence LLC.

The PRISM Group, an advertising and marketing solutions provider, has named CHARLES WHITTINGHAM senior vice president of advertising sales at PRISM. He joins the company as part of a merger with About.com, where he served as senior vice president of sales. PATRICK HAGERTY has been named senior vice president for advertising sales. He most recently served as vice president of partnerships at Tallan Inc. THOMAS RYAN has been named vice president for sales with responsibility for the Southern California region. He joins PRISM from American Media Inc. where he served as vice president of corporate advertising. HOLLY WERNET has been named vice president of sales at PRISM after serving as regional advertising director for Money magazine. JENNIFER P. READING has been named sales manager, based in New York. She comes to PRISM from Primedia's Modern Bride Group where she was the travel and beauty director. Lastly, PATRICIA S. GREENE has been named the group's director of research. She previously served as director of consumer research for TV Guide Magazines.

KATHLEEN ABERNATHY, MICHAEL COPPS and KEVIN MARTIN have been cleared by the Senate to become commissioners on the five- member panel at the FCC. MICHAEL POWELL'S term as chairman has been extended from 2002 to 2007.

MICHAEL PIRRONE has been appointed executive director of media at Net Insight Inc. He most recently led a group at GeoVideo Networks Inc. focused on the development of the company's fiber network services with broadcasters, cable programming groups and media content managers.

NANCY TAMAYO has been promoted to vice president of West Coast sales at Phase2Media. She joined the company in June of last year as account manager after six years at Cahners Business Information. Also at Phase2Media, KATIE HAYES has been named general sales manager of the San Francisco office. She had been account manager at the company since October of last year.

JOHN SCHUELER, publisher of the Star Tribune since April 1998, today announced plans to step down for personal reasons. ROBERT J. WEIL, vice president, operations at The McClatchy Company, the newspaper's parent company, will assume responsibilities as interim publisher until a replacement is named later this summer.

ROBIN MILLER has been named group chief executive at Emap PLC. KEVIN HAND resigned as group chief executive and will be leaving the company. ADAM BROADBENT, a non-executive director, will replace Miller as non-executive chairman. TOM MOLONEY, currently president and chief operating officer of Emap's U.S. operations, was named chief operating officer.

LLOYD SHEARER has died at the age of 86. He authored newspaper supplement Parade magazine's "Walter Scott's Personality Parade" column, answering reader questions about movies, politics and celebrities, from 1958 to 1991. From 1960 to 1991 he also penned "Lloyd Shearer's Intelligence Report."
