Merkley+Partners Names MacDonald CCO

Omnicom agency Merkley+Partners has named Matt MacDonald as its new Chief Creative Officer, making him only the third CCO in the agency's 33-year history. He replaces Andy Hirsch, who retired at the end of 2024 after more than 25 years with the agency.

MacDonald will oversee the agency's creative direction, join the executive leadership team, help strengthen client relationships and support new business growth.

The appointment comes as Merkley+Partners continues to expand its role as a full-service Omnicom agency following its 2024 integration with B2B agency Doremus+Co.

MacDonald brings more than 20 years of experience. Most recently, he served as CCO of VCCP US, where he helped win accounts including Spectrum, Barclays and Invesco. Before that, he spent more than a decade at BBDO New York, becoming its Chief Creative Officer and leading work for clients including AT&T, GE, FedEx, Mars, Wells Fargo, WhatsApp and ExxonMobil.
