One of the two big mobile TV
providers, Qualcomm's Flo TV, has added some major programming punch to its lineup -- ABC and Disney Channel.
This deal gives Flo TV all four of the big networks. Flo TV already operates ESPN
MobileTV, as well as 800 live events, including College Football, College Basketball, and Major League Baseball.
Flo TV users will now have access to shows such as "Grey's Anatomy," "Desperate
Housewives," "FlashForward," "Ugly Betty" and "Lost," as well as those on the Disney Channel, including "Hannah Montana," "Wizards of Waverly Place," "The Suite Life on Deck" and "Jonas." Disney
Channel shows will be simulcast.
"ABC Mobile and Disney Channel offer some of the most iconic and popular programming on television," said Jonathan Barzilay, senior vice president of programming
and advertising of Flo TV.
Flo TV now has 17 channels, and competitor MobiTV has around 40 networks. MobiTV channels include: NBC Mobile, NFL Network, Disney Channel, A&E Mobile, Discovery
Mobile, ESPN Mobile TV and Fox Business.
MobiTV has around 8 million mobile users. Flo TV, a new startup, has not disclosed the number of mobile users. MobiTV uses a carrier's data network; Flo
TV, a television spectrum.
