The online contest, running through Feb. 23, challenges consumers to add more omega 3-containing seafood to their diets by using one of Gorton's four varieties of grilled seafood (tilapia, shrimp, salmon or fillets) to "renovate" an existing recipe or create a new dish that's lower in calories and fat.
The 31 finalists chosen by judges will all receive a prize. The grand prize is a $5,000 gift certificate good for use at a major home furnishings retailer, a year of free Gorton's Seafood via coupons, and having the winning recipe professionally photographed and posted on Gorton's Web site.
Gorton's will also award three "voters' choice" prizes from among the 31 judged finalists, who will be awarded gift certificates.
Gorton's also has a new TV commercial featuring its grilled tilapia.
In addition, the brand has established a Facebook presence and a monthly e-newsletter offering recipes and coupons, and is offering downloadable coupons online (gortons.com).--Karlene Lukovitz
